What is a digipak?

A digipak is laid out to make the CD more eye-catching and interesting. Digipaks usually give a flavour and insight into the musician and their genre of music. In keeping with their genre Artists/Bands tend to use a reccuring theme throughout and also display their identity. They can also hold additional promotions in the sleeves e.g booklets and posters. They are normally made of card instead of the normal plastic CD album cases. Digipaks are quite popular among fans as they include additional features rather than just the CD on its own.

Examples of Digipaks with genres like George Ezra..

This is Tom Odell's digipak for his album 'Long Way Down'.

His tracks are shown down the right hand side of the back of his album, this list format is a typical convention of a digipak. The browns and greens mimic the folk style in the way that it includes natural 'autumnal' colours. The image of Tom Odell is the central focus. The dark CD is contrasted by the white writing, this is the same as George Ezra's 'Budapest' Album.

This is James Bays Digipak for 'Chaos and the Calm'. As you can see there are various images of James in his digipak, this is a typical convention. Additionally James has his logo of a hat in white contrast against the black background. The colours, are similar to Tom Odells and typical of the folk genre. Similarly James includes a scene of natural images.

Filming on Holiday

Day 4 of Filming

I was able to capture some underwater shots of myself swimming with my waterproof camera. This worked well as I opened my eyes under water and therefore have produced some great footage. I also did tumbles and turns which have also been included.

Filming on holiday

Day 3 of filming -

I was able to experience some amazing things on holiday, one of which included going to the water park 'Siam Park'. This was an experience shared with friends. I managed to capture the 'fun' as specified in the song. This was filmed on a GoPro, which is why we could capture it in the water.

Day 2 of filming -

Snorkelling with the Turtles was the perfect time to capture some footage. Although the water was quite murky it wasn't obvious in the shots and we managed to capture some great images. These are edited into my video using 3 images of a turtle following me. I have included these sped up as it shows a different transition to the video.

Filming on holiday

Day 1 of Holiday -

I decided to film taking off and landing into Tenerife as the views from above are amazing. I have used this at the start of my video as it fits in with my opening. However as it was a bit slow I speeded up the video so the scenery can all be viewed.

George Ezra's Album Covers

Previous examples of George Ezra's album covers show his quirky personality, which is reflected in his voice. In my own creation; music video, digipak and website, I will be displaying this same eccentric style. Additionally I will clearly print George Ezra's name and the title of the song in my own piece.

Target Audience

Gender - I will be targeting females for my music video. The reason for this is because I feel the lyrics perfectly display empowerment of women. This empowerment will also be represented in my video (by me having fun) and therefore other females will be able to relate.

Age - The age of my target audience would be between the ages of 13-30. This is because the protagonist (me) is 18. However I feel it would appeal to women of all ages but primarily the ages of 13-30 due to the music.

Interests - I feel the types of activities my target audience would enjoy are -

  • Festivals
  • Listening to music
  • Going to Concerts
