George Ezra's Album Covers

Previous examples of George Ezra's album covers show his quirky personality, which is reflected in his voice. In my own creation; music video, digipak and website, I will be displaying this same eccentric style. Additionally I will clearly print George Ezra's name and the title of the song in my own piece.

Target Audience

Gender - I will be targeting females for my music video. The reason for this is because I feel the lyrics perfectly display empowerment of women. This empowerment will also be represented in my video (by me having fun) and therefore other females will be able to relate.

Age - The age of my target audience would be between the ages of 13-30. This is because the protagonist (me) is 18. However I feel it would appeal to women of all ages but primarily the ages of 13-30 due to the music.

Interests - I feel the types of activities my target audience would enjoy are -

Festivals
Listening to music
Going to Concerts

Inspiration '13 Going On 30'

If you've ever seen the movie 13 going on 30 you know how girly the genre is. Its a typical chick flick which is why its not surprise that I have taken my inspiration from it considering my music videos purpose 'portraying girls having fun'- just like the song states.

In the film 13 going on 30 there is a typical girly sleepover, in which the girls end up dancing on the bed in their pyjamas and singing to the song 'Love is a Battlefield' into their hairbrushes.

I hope to achieve a scene like this is my piece as it shows girls having fun.

Location, Location, Location

I am keen to include various shots of my holiday.

For example having already been to the island of Tenerife I know I will include video footage of me jumping off the ladder at El Puertito. This is also a location that is renown for turtles, therefore I will hopefully get some underwater footage of me snorkelling with them.

Additionally I will include footage of me on the beach and at the water park (siam park). As visually it is amazing.

As my video also includes old footage of me when I was younger there will be places included such as - holidays, school productions, plays from home.

Inspiration 'Grown Woman'

Part of my inspiration has come from the music video ' grown woman' - by Beyonce

I have taken this image from the video as I feel it portrays a similar image to one I want to portray in my own video. For example Beyonce has a huge smile on her face and is surrounded by friends. All three girls are dancing and having fun, which is the most important aspect in my video.

The reason why I can relate with this image is because I will be including videos of a younger me in my video. I will not be editing or changing these videos similarly to Beyonce's video. The image looks authentic as it has the date and time of when the video was taken.

This is a split screen image as it portrays two characters at different times. The image on the left is Beyonce in present day whereas the image on the right is Beyonce as a child. This editing technique is very clever and one I will be considering to use in my own piece.

These two shots are snaps of pictures that are edited to move. In my editing stages I hope to achieve effects like these to make my piece more exciting and original. The fact they the main character Beyonce is shown wearing white clothing and the background is a black image shows a huge contrast. I will consider colour for when I do my own piece.

Again this shows another aspect of editing. As before I will be focusing highly on my editing side of things as it brings a new exciting element. And makes the piece stand out as whacky and original!

Budget

My budget will be very minimal; this is because my setting is abroad and wont need any added extras. Of course the travel itself will cost but I was always going to go on holiday so that will not fall in the costs for my music video.
School provide the software to edit my video so the only budget I will need to consider is additional extras to make the editing a slightly better quality.

Use of Digital Technology

The Camera I will be using for my piece will be my Iphone camera. The reason I am using this camera is because it is a good quality piece of equipment. Additionally it has a much better battery life than the school cameras and is much more consistent.

As most of my filming will be taking place abroad, I will also be using an underwater camera for when I go swimming in the pool/sea or at the water park. This camera is a Fujifilm FinePix XP50 Digital Waterproof Camera.

I used Movie Maker last year to create my film opening and it worked very well. It enabled me to edit, cut clips and over lay sounds, which was very beneficial. I will be using this for the editing side of my music video.

Blogger will also be used to record my research and planning for the process of my music video.

Music Video Synopsis

My music video will open with a sun rising (in fast motion). This will compliment the slow beat at the beginning.
As the fast tempo kicks in the setting will change to me dancing on the beach, it will then in a fast motion include lots of people one by one coming up behind me to join in. This will be followed by various videos of my life starting with me as a child. The starting age will be around 2 years of age until present day.
The video will then progress to me dancing on the beach again and doing various other things, for example (swimming underwater, cliff jumping, laughing, eating, dancing).

The most part of my video will be taken from my holiday in Tenerife. This is because the setting will be different from majority of other peoples and therefore it makes it more interesting.

The mood I aim to convey for my music video will be lively. It will show the life experiences of my life. I want it to be a 'chilled' video with a happy message!

Permission to use this song

It is important to message the band/artist for the reasons of copy right. Having chosen my artist 'George Ezra' I wrote to him via facebook as I was not aware of an email address I could use. I explained my reason for wanting to use his song for my music video. The message is as followed:

I am well aware that George Ezra is a popular artist and it is unlikely that I will receive a response.

Final Choice Of Song

After receiving audience feedback the song I have decided to choose is George Ezra - Girls Just Wanna Have fun (cover). The feedback given was from friends and family on Facebook. No one commented on my second song so I went with George Ezra.

Additionally I liked that it didn't have a music video already. This is because I feel that if it did have, my piece would constantly be compared to the original or even more so I would be taking bits from it and I wanted to bring a new idea.

I am a huge fan of George Ezra and think his cover of the song is refreshing. I feel that it takes the classic song and makes it modern.
